Stainless Steel Cleanroom Panels

Designed for electronics, pharmaceutical, food, healthcare and aerospace cleanrooms, SENBO Stainless Steel Cleanroom Panels combine steel or stainless steel facings with rock wool, MGO or aluminum honeycomb cores, delivering dust-proof, antibacterial, fire-rated, moisture- and corrosion-resistant performance. Class A non-combustible, with ≥98% hydrophobicity, load capacity up to 1.1 kN/m² and fire resistance over 60 minutes. Available at factory prices from SENBO.

Stainless Steel Cleanroom Panels, also known as purification panels, are sandwich-structured panels produced through a composite process. SENBO Building Materials supplies these panels for controlled environments across pharmaceutical, medical, electronics, and food industries, with a focus on material compatibility and long-term performance.

The panels consist of metal facing materials and a functional core. Facing options include color-coated steel, stainless steel, aluminum alloy, and titanium-zinc alloy, with a typical thickness of 0.4–0.8 mm. Surface coatings include PE (polyester), PVDF (fluorocarbon), and HDP (high-durability polyester). The facing materials are designed to achieve a light reflectance coefficient of 0.6–0.8, which helps maintain consistent lighting conditions inside the cleanroom.

For products with antimicrobial functionality, antimicrobial agents are incorporated into the coating. These agents are intended to inhibit the growth of common pathogenic bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The core material is selected based on fire rating, strength requirements, and functional needs, with options including rock wool, glass-magnesium rock wool, aluminum honeycomb, paper honeycomb, magnesium oxysulfate, silicon-modified rock wool, and gypsum.

Core Material Comparison

The following table compares key properties of three commonly used core materials for 50 mm thick panels. All values are based on standard laboratory test configurations; actual performance may vary with panel construction and installation conditions.

Core Material Type Core Density Panel Weight (50 mm) Flexural Load Capacity (50 mm) Fire Resistance Rating Hydrophobicity
Rock Wool 100–120 kg/m³ 15–16 kg/m² 1.1 kN/m² 30 min ≥98%
Glass-Magnesium Rock Wool 17–23 kg/m² 1.25 kN/m² 60 min
Aluminum Honeycomb 10–15 kg/m² 1.0 kN/m² 41 min

Fire resistance values refer to a 50 mm panel in a standard wall configuration tested according to the relevant fire test method. Test reports are available upon request.

Dimensions and Structural Forms

Standard panel widths are 980 mm and 1180 mm for central-connection types, and 950 mm and 1150 mm for tongue-and-groove types. Thickness options are 50 mm, 75 mm, 100 mm, and 150 mm, with customization available. Wall panel lengths range from 100 mm to 9000 mm, while ceiling panel lengths range from 100 mm to 3500 mm.

Two main structural forms are used. Central-connection "box" panels have pre-embedded Z-shaped galvanized steel edge keels on all four sides and are connected using H-shaped aluminum profiles. Tongue-and-groove panels use a male-female interlocking connection that provides a tighter joint seal. The choice between these forms depends on the required joint appearance, sealing performance, and installation sequence.

Performance Requirements in Different Industries

1. Pharmaceutical Cleanrooms: Ceiling Load and Disinfection Resistance

According to the Code for Design of Pharmaceutical Cleanrooms (GB 50457-2019), partition systems must withstand a pressure differential of 100 Pa, and ceiling systems should have a load-bearing capacity of at least 120 kg/m². In GMP workshops and vaccine production lines, panel surfaces should also resist acids, alkalis, salt spray, and sterilants such as vaporized hydrogen peroxide (VHP). This ensures long-term durability under frequent disinfection protocols.

2. Hospital Operating Rooms: Antimicrobial and Smooth Surfaces

Medical clean spaces such as operating rooms and ICUs require dense, smooth panel surfaces with tightly sealed joints to prevent dust accumulation and bacterial growth. For example, in some operating room projects, antimicrobial cleanroom panels are specified to support a low-microbial environment. Inorganic pre-coated panels with calcium silicate substrates and polyester surface coatings are one option for these demanding settings, typically available in 1220×2440×6 mm sheets.

3. Food Processing Cleanrooms: Hygiene Compliance

Food processing facilities and central kitchens must meet antimicrobial and anti-mold requirements under GB 50687-2011. Cleanroom panels in these environments should withstand frequent cleaning and help maintain a hygienic production area. Smooth, non-porous surfaces simplify sanitation and reduce the risk of contamination.

4. Electronics Cleanrooms: Anti-static and Demountable Systems

Chip manufacturing and display panel facilities have specific anti-static requirements under GB 50472-2008. In core production areas, silicone-free, demountable partition systems are recommended to allow equipment access and process adjustments without generating particulate contamination.

5. Laboratory Environments: Chemical Resistance and Dust Control

Laboratory clean zones require wall surfaces that resist chemical reagents and remain stable over time. Panels connected with aluminum profiles and a seamless interlocking design help maintain joint integrity and prevent dust accumulation. Some large laboratory projects have used this type of panel for exterior wall cladding, where chemical resistance is essential.

Manufacturing and Quality Control

SENBO Building Materials produces cleanroom panels on automated production lines. The manufacturing process includes metal facing preparation, core cutting and placement, adhesive application, hot pressing, edge sealing, and final trimming. Each batch is inspected for dimensional accuracy, surface flatness, bonding strength, and coating quality before shipment.

Our quality control team performs incoming material inspection on steel coils and core materials, in-process checks during lamination, and final inspection of finished panels. Test reports for combustion performance, thermal conductivity, and other key parameters can be provided with shipments.

Common Questions From Buyers

1. How do I choose between central-connection and tongue-and-groove panels?

Central-connection panels use H-shaped aluminum profiles and offer a flat, continuous surface appearance. Tongue-and-groove panels use interlocking edges that provide a tighter seal and are often preferred where joint integrity is critical. The decision depends on sealing requirements, installation sequence, and aesthetic preferences.

2. What information is required to specify a cleanroom panel for quotation?

Please provide the panel application (wall or ceiling), thickness, width, facing material, core material, fire rating requirement, cleanroom classification, any antistatic or chemical resistance needs, connection type, and project location. A detailed checklist is provided above.

3. How do panel thickness and core density affect ceiling load capacity?

Higher panel thickness and core density generally increase flexural stiffness and load capacity. For pharmaceutical ceilings, a load capacity of at least 120 kg/m² is often required. Our engineering team can help select a configuration that meets your specific span and load conditions.

4. What test documents can be supplied with cleanroom panels?

We can provide test reports for combustion performance (GB 8624), fire resistance, thermal conductivity, flexural capacity, and antimicrobial effectiveness (if applicable). Material certificates for steel facings and core materials are also available. Please specify your documentation requirements when ordering.

5. Can the same panel configuration be used for both wall and ceiling systems?

In many cases, the same panel type can be used for walls and ceilings, but the maximum length for ceiling panels is typically shorter (3500 mm) to control deflection. Ceiling panels may also require higher flexural capacity. Our technical team can confirm whether a single configuration meets both applications.
